The specifications that make a material enquiry easier
A useful enquiry makes it easier for a supplier to understand what you need and for both sides to compare offers on the same basis. A short, specific message is usually more effective than a broad request for “polyester waste”.
Name the material
Use the clearest category available—POY waste, DTY waste, mono waste, Datti, Superwhite Datti, Mixed Datti, Colour Patti, Bukka, polyester fibre or waterjet TPM/Rotto. Add a photo if the term may be interpreted differently.
State grade, colour and condition
Describe the expected shade, form, cleanliness, moisture condition and key limits. Mention whether mixed shades or variable material are acceptable.
Include quantity and frequency
Give an initial quantity, monthly requirement if recurring, and whether you can take a full truckload or need smaller lots.
Tell the supplier where it must go
Delivery city, unloading constraints, preferred dispatch window and whether the quote should include transport can affect landed cost.
Explain the application
If relevant, explain whether the material is intended for recycling, fibre processing or another use. That context helps focus the discussion but does not replace your own quality checks.
A copy-and-send template
“We require [material/grade], [colour/form], approx. [quantity] per [order/month], delivered to [city]. Please share current availability, photos/specification, rate basis, freight, packing, moisture condition and dispatch timeline.”
